Well.... I'm sure you've all been breathlessly  awaiting this post. OK, maybe not breathlessly.
Saw my surgeon yesterday and got a good report. X-Rays look good, everything is in place!
Some restrictions have been lifted, I can ditch the crutches & use a cane, unlimited (within reason)
walking. I still have a few questions I forgot to ask yesterday, I will hope to get email answers soon.
The downside, the "Hip Precautions", not bending beyond 90 degrees, will remain in effect for two  weeks beyond what I expected. That means another month of asking Robin to tie my shoes.
Just joking, I only wear slip ons. It does mean, however, that there are some very simple day to day activities that I can't carry out for longer than I expected. Disappointing to say the least.
In the words of a first century philosopher, Oh Well!

Well...I made it! 4 weeks of house arrest is over! I will see my surgeon on Tuesday &, hopefully, get off crutches & get the Ok to get out and walk & get on with my life. Expecting to also get the Ok for physical therapy. Stay Tuned! Thanks, again, for all your support and good wishes.

                                                               Ed's Birthday Muffin
                                               Day 19
Yes....today's my 69th birthday! As my friend Larry says,
The last year of this decade!
Last year's birthday was spent in the hospital so I guess that
being confined to the house isn't so bad.
Having some trouble sleeping, that's annoying!
Looking forward to the day I can be pain free & return to a
                                                   normal life!
Not complaining, happy to be celebrating another birthday
I'll take as many as I can get!

                                                               Ed Gets The Mail
First time outdoors in 2 weeks.
The mailbox is as far as I'm allowed to travel.
Halfway through my 4 weeks of house arrest!

I agree with you Elin. Much better caption.
Here I am with Nurse Julie who baby sat me
yesterday, day 10 of my recovery.
A little more mobile every day 2+ more
weeks of house arrest still seems like a
long time.

The Dark Knight Arrives At Home
Tucked safely into my familiar surroundings.
Doing well, just trying to learn to walk again.
Many thanks for all your kind thoughts & words!

Day 2

Saturday,  March 23, 2013
this probably won't surprise anyone but I've been having some problems uploading photos. So all I can offer are these words. Recovery is going well, some pain but bearable.
I'm allowed out of bed & was taken for 3 walks today. They'll try me on stairs tomorrow.
I hope to be sprung on Monday & rehab time & protocol are still a little vague. feeling
confidant about a good recovery.

Very Funny Elin, I'll keep it in mind! Thanks for the help!!
Thanks to you & Bill for your kind wishes.
Friday, March 15, this photo is the sunrise from the Darien train station. The earliest I've been up in about 30 years. We were headed to Special surgery for an 8 hour day of tests & various poking. prodding & never ending questions. Met my sister & brother in law for a great dinner at La Fonda Del Sol afterwards & it made the hospital ordeal all worthwhile.
I'll be posting throughout this adventure. If you'd like to leave me a message, just click on the comments link below my entries. Best to all, Ed

ROUND 4
Howz Ed? you ask!
Well... on March 22 I'll be going back to Special Surgery to repair another hip replacement gone bad.
On March 15 I will spend an entire day in NYC going through the pre-op ritual.
If you want to know how I'm doing, you can follow this blog from pre surgery on the 22nd through my (hopefully) benign & problem free recovery & recuperation. Stay tuned & feel free to stay in touch via
email - edsmusic@optonline.net and this blog.
